The Village of Fayetteville

Momma’s Village-Fayetteville is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide access to African-centered birth & breastfeeding support, postpartum care, parenting education and mental health resources for Black families in Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg and the surrounding Sandhills region. Our focus is to provide quality care, services and resources to reduce Black maternal & infant morbidity and mortality through our village of full-spectrum health professionals, peer supporters and elders from our community.

Birth Support

We provide our families with access to a Community-based Black Doula Collective that offers care that incorporates traditions from our diverse African/African-American culture. Our doulas are trained as Community-based Doulas (CBD) offering full-spectrum care that centers the Black birth experience.

Breastfeeding Support

Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants offer clinical lactation/infant-feeding support for our entire community while offering culturally-sensitive support that honors our ancestors by creating healthy habits for our infants and children.

Clinical Lactation Training Program

2021-2022 MVF Clinical Lactation Students

We are proud to offer the only Pathway 3 Clinical Lactation Program in the entire country. Our program includes the 500 clinical hours and the 95 lactation education hours required to sit the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant exam. This program offers full-time (10-months) and part-time (16-months) programs. Applications are accepted April and September of each year.
